ImageThis is my review of the Nike Golf Sneaker as seen in the March Edition of West Coast Golfer Magazine (www.wcgolfer.com)

When I laced them up, I remembered the very first pair of golf shoes I wore.  I remember thinking how great the traction was, but also remember all the blisters I had after that round.  Since I have been playing, golf shoes have come a long way.  I remember the “pump” golf shoes John Daly wore, then courses all over the country banning spikes and thinking I could never get used to soft spikes.

I have never really found a comfortable golf shoe until now.  I believe the trick here is it is not a shoe at all, in fact it’s a golf sneaker.  The Nike Shox Golf shoe takes the best design from Nike sneakers and turned them into soft spike golf shoe.  If fact, Nike has a couple of different style of these golf sneakers.  They also offer the Nike Air Max Edge.  From time to time when I hit the links I will be paired up with a new golfer.  He or she always asks how they can improve their game.  As I look at their gear, the first thing I notice is they are not using golf shoes.  I always mention to go out and get a good pair of shoes.  The thing I hear time and time again is, “I don’t like golf shoes, and I like wearing my sneakers.”  Well now I will tell them to go out and get the Nike Shox or Nike Air Max Golf Sneakers.

I enjoy walking 18 holes, and I believe there is a competitive advantage in doing so.  I can honestly say using the Nike Shox Golf shoes I felt less tired.  I learned the right pair of sneaker makes all the difference when jogging, and the Nike Shox Golf shoes gave me the support I needed.  There is also less of a transition from my street sneakers to golf shoes, which is a plus as well.

During the first round of the season, I put the Nike Shox to the test.  I had uphill, downhill, sideways and every bad lie you could imagine.  If there was a bad lie on the course chances were I would be there.  Not once did I lose my footing, which is the best compliment I can give to a golf shoe.
