As a collector and admirer of the “center shaft” putters, I couldn’t wait to receive this unique looking putter. The milling is very unique and unlike any other putter manufacture in the industry. Its cross milled face finish or IND*X is a state-of-the-art design, produced by our patented, computer-driven milling process. Aesthetically beautiful, with a stunningly luxurious look and feel, the IND*X face finish is CNC-milled technology “pushed to the edge”. Using an innovative cross-milling process in twenty-seven (27) different directions, the putter face is finished in a geometric pattern with exceptionally fine spacing. This structure enhances the mild and controlled feel of the putter. |

Bruce Sizemore may not be a household name, but his putters have impressively won $6 million on the PGA Tour without any payment of endorsement fees. This includes a virtual out-of-the-gate victory in the autumn of 2000 when Mike Weir won the WGC / American Express Championship using one of Sizemore’s early Copperstix mallets. As has historically been the case with fiercely independent thinkers, Sizemore’s products were born from his belief that he could build something better without being confined to the processes and bureaucracies commonly found among the larger golf equipment manufacturers.
Let’s see how one of his latest incarnations, the SB-2 blade putter, adheres to Sizemore’s principles. |

Background
Chin Bae, owner of Mentor Sports Technologies (www.mentorsportstech.com), is also the designer of a line of mallet and blade-style putters that feature variable moment of inertia (V-MOI) adjustable weight technology. This means that through the use of weight cartridges, the golfer can personally adjust how much the putter head resists twisting upon contact with the ball. The golfer can even affect the balance of the putter, depending on how the weights are inserted. Image 2 | Image 3 | Image 4 | Image 5 The test putter used in this review is the Maestro, whose specs may be seen at http://www.mentorsportstech.com/store/showproduct.aspx?productid=43&categoryid=1 (also see the "Technical Q&A" post following this review for more info). |

Wirtten by..Moecat Acknowledgement and Important Note First of all, I would like to thank Todd Schumaker (owner of TKS Putters) and Scott Penrod (President and Co-Founder of Sizemore Golf) for their time to speak with me over the phone. I must admit that I was intrigued with the Sizemore XB-1 Prototype after having read Mr. Doug's PutterTalk review. After some quick research, I found out that Bruce Sizemore, Jr. had earlier produced two lines of putters under the original Copper Stix logo: the CU and CS series. One particular model caught my eye, the CS-1, because of its at-first-glance similarities with the Bettinardi MC-9 I already own. |

I bought this putter used from the Golfsmith early in the summer. It has a pretty good ding on the heel of the putter, but nothing that will effect the actual performance of the putter. It is just cosmetic. Anyway, the feel on long putts with this putter is exceptional. I play golf about twice per week and my handicap is 10. Two putting is absolutely vital on every hole and I just have confidence in my long putts with this club in my hands. Before getting my hands on this putter I averaged one 3-putt per round. However, after getting this putter I would guess that I had about 1 3-putt every 5 rounds. I know that a lot of it is mental, but the weighting and feel of this putter is actually allowing me to score 1-2 strokes better over the period of 3-4 months. Once I hit the green I have all the confidence in the world that I can nestle it up to the hole with 3 feet no matter the distance or lie. I feel that instead of hoping for a two putt....I expect a two putt. I used to think that all putters were made equal and that putting was a matter of skill. Equipment does matter. You have to have the right equipment to maximize your scoring potential. Demo this putter and you will not be disappointed. |
